Top 20 Large Indian Employers on Glassdoor
In one of our articles published in early 2021, we discussed why it’s time for more employer branding in developing countries. We discovered that when taking a detailed look into the attractiveness of the top employers in emerging markets, typically less than half of those employers are actually headquartered in that same country. Oftentimes, job seekers in emerging markets are attracted to the prestigious brand reputation and promise of growth that is assumed to be more readily accessible among international organizations with headquarters in high-income countries abroad.
When looking at the experience employees share on one of the world’s most well-known jobs and employer branding sites, Glassdoor, there is also reason for some concern among organizations headquartered in developing countries and emerging markets. The average combined scores of the most attractive companies headquartered in emerging markets rank 0.2 points lower than the same average among organizations headquartered in high-income countries.
That’s not to say, however, that there aren’t some great organizations headquartered in emerging markets when it comes to employee satisfaction.
India, for example, has long been an economic powerhouse in Asia with important business centers sprawling in cities like Mumbai, Gurgaon, Noida, Hyderabad, Pune, and Bengaluru. According to the International Monetary Fund’s 2021 data, India is now the world's sixth-largest economy by nominal GDP and is characterized as a middle-income developing market economy. Aside from being one of the most entrepreneurial societies in the world, India is home to thousands of locally grown and locally headquartered businesses and organizations of all sizes
across all industries – some of them even becoming household names internationally.
In this study, we’ve taken a look at the September 2021 Glassdoor ratings of 50 organizations headquartered in India with more than 1,000 employees. We also took into consideration that the organizations have at least 100 Glassdoor reviews among all present and former full-time and part-time employees who are based in India.
